Chetan Bhagat : The 3 mistakes of my Life - Review

Chetan Bhagat is no fluke. He has proved it. at least to me.
The first book(Five Point Someone) was obviously a classic. but after i read
his second book(One night @ a call center) , i must say i was disappointed.
i felt there was a lot of irrelevant stuff in the book that really bored me.
the idea was brilliant. but i felt he should have worked more on the story.
Five Point Someone was released in 2004 and One night @ a call center in 2005.
one year was not enough according to me.that was where i think he did the right thing this time around.after 3 years he released his 3rd book,
The 3 mistakes of my Life.

The book was great.
A few things that stand out in chetan as a writer are his informal style of writing,
sense of humor, the way he handles emotions and the way his characters question themselves
in their mind (in a weird way,you start asking those questions to yourself :)).
and i felt all of them were at their peak in this book.

I wont give anything out from the story line that is not mentioned in his website.
it would not be fair to you,to chetan or to me.
The book starts with chetan receiving an e-mail which is also a suicide note from a businessman.
He tells that he has made 3 mistakes in his life.
He also tells him that he is taking a sleeping pill every time he ends a line in the mail.
at the end of the mail, chetan counts the number of full stops and it was 19.

The story starts here.
The story revolves around 3 main aspects. cricket, business and religion (No, these are not the 3 mistakes of his life).
There is something with chetan and romance. when you read the romantic part in the book, there is always a smile on your face.

Try and notice the main character(the businessman) of the book. like the main character(cum narrator) in chetan's first book he is a very closed person emotionally.
This makes me wonder of so many things.
why does chetan choose such characters to narrate the story?
why do they have so many secrets?
were you a very closed person chetan?
is that why you started to vent out your emotions through books?
why do i care so much about this?
am i like that too?
(just trying to illustrate chetan's style of questioning self i guess :))

I must highlight the best part of the book.
There are a string of true events that happens in parallel with the story.
I dint really check on all the dates but I'm sure they are accurate.
Its really difficult to stitch a story between so many true events and chetan has done a great job with that.
you'll understand when you read the book.

There are a few similarities between this book and Five Point Someone.
3 Guys, their friendship,1 girl and a few other things. but it really does not matter as he has tried a lot of new things with this book.

As a whole The 3 mistakes of my Life is a great book. it does have its morals. but its ok if its
considered as a light read. either ways you'll enjoy reading it.
Being prized at 95, its a steal. so go get your copy and start reading.
and don't worry about your precious time. its only 250 pages and you can easily
finish the book on a Sunday.
Get back after you read and give me your review :)
